While my trip to Cranberry Rail-Trail was five years ago, but I doubt the trail parking situation has change for the better. The only official parking for the trail is in Richwood by the depot which was difficult to find before the days of GPS. I would bypass Richwood for numerous reasons and find parking a mile or two west of town at the Highway 20 and 39 intersection like the locals do. There may be closer parking towards the tunnel, but I don't remember it. As the trail ends abruptly at the isolated northern trailhead, so there is no parking. The trail is rugged, but scenic and I would recommend a mountain bike or hybrid. I've include a picture of the northern trailhead.
Mr. Yates:
Is there a trailhead or other access point anywhere near this tunnel? I would like to hike this trail and visit the tunnel, but I am not sure that at 20 mile round trip hike by myself is a good idea.

According to http://www.topix.com/forum/city/craigsville-wv/TA2RI8KC4DDQL... : "Sarah's Tunnel is named after Sarah Crawford.. If you go past the tunnel closer to the Richwood side there is a sign that tells you her name.. I don't quite remember what happened. Always was told she was killed and they left her body in there. Been in there a hundered times.. Gives me the creeps but have never seen anything. "
Well, there's got to be a story there. Any clues?
I realize that bridges and tunnels are not normally given first names, but Sarah's Tunnel is the local, and most commonly used, name.
Thanks for the information. I might bypass this one for my next trip.
