Description

Replacing the truss with a girder bridge allowed hi-wide loads to travel this route which leads to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Hi-wides were often too high to go up the more direct route of the CNW between Milwaukee (Allis Chalmers mining machinery plant) and Marquette Mi. So they went up the Soo Line by this longer route.
