Red Cedar River Bridge
Posted May 22, 2015, by Matt Lohry

I drove past here in May 2015, and there is no indication that the old truss bridges ever even existed. Two nasty new UCEB's now carry I-94 across the red Cedar River. Shameful.

Drove by a couple weeks ago, and the new bridge is open for WB traffic. All EB traffic was shifted over to the old WB bridge, and the old EB bridge is now closed. More updates (and hopefully photos) to come soon.

Drive over it today. Cranes and barges are in river. Replacement structures to be built.

Construction Photo from the files of L.G. Arnold Inc.,General Contractor. Story has it the bridge was originally planned to be rivited as this was the accepted practice. Contractor petitioned the State of Wisconsin to use structural bolts believed to be A325. Petition was accepted. Contractor was required to torque test every bolt. Fred Duellman of Menomonie was the Ironworker Superintendent.
