Devil's Creek bridge 1985

Steel beams on wood bents with an interesting crib as the caps. I should have read the black plate in the middle of one beam

Description

WC, Soo Line, and finally the short line operator Wisconsin-Michigan Railroad (WIMI) operated it before the rails were removed in the 1990's. The line was embargoed twice with rails rolled out at the end, replaced, and then finally removed. Devil's Creek is in a 'steep' valley of the Penokee Range, the railroad grade was 1.1% for 4 miles here. Subject to flooding in summer thunderstorms.
