The Old Brownsville Bridge's 519'-0"-long Pennsylvania truss spans the Monongahela River between Brownsville and West Brownsville. The bridge is heavily constructed of built-up members and eye-bars, and is a significant landmark in the city of Brownsville. Built jointly by Fayette and Washington counties, the bridge was considered an engineering marvel in its time. It was built along the route of old U.S. Route 40, the former National Road. The Old Brownsville Bridge was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
