I believe that the bridge was originally built by the Pittsburgh, McKeesport and Youghiogheny (P-Mickey) Railroad. Predecessor to the P&LE up the Youghiogheny. The other side of the river was initially the Pittsburgh and Connellsville, which became part of the B&O.
