Description

Large through bowstring with a late 1880s Columbia Bridge Co. Pratt through truss. The Pratt was likely a replacement for a prior span; probably a bowstring. The bowstring was replaced by two girder ponies with the addition of a pier. Once this occurred, the Pratt became the largest span.

South Main Street Bridge

I'm not sure that the new (first) picture is the same crossing but, if it is, the four pictures show a progression of three configurations. It would be neat to find an all bowstring version showing the span that was replaced by the Columbia Bridge Works Pratt!

Also, if all of the images are of the same crossing, when should the site do a new entry? My concern with breaking this into three is that it would actually be less coherent than if its kept together.
