NOTE: This bridge is at the north end of Barnes Avenue in the City of Utica.
The Barnes Avenue Bridge (and all of Barnes Avenue) have been totally abandoned, meaning that one can not drive to this bridge (at least legally, that is).
The bridge can be reached by walking the length of Barnes Avenue from Oriskany Street, or by parking at the Mohawk Street Bridge in Whitesboro and walking east on the Erie Canalway Trail.
The trail route is about 1.75 miles to the bridge (3.5 miles round trip).
This is a pleasant (but long) walk along the canal.
