Maybe a bit of speculation on this bridge, but I’ve heard several examples of counties or cities replacing railroad bridges with modern trail bridges because they “didn’t know what they had” or “didn’t have any blueprints”. Oftentimes, these spans are easily rehabilitated and could be used for a trail.

From the article: "The existing bridge, which provides access to Route 29, will be closed starting on Nov. 3 until early April for the replacement of the abandoned railroad trail"

Why is the county paying $2,000,000. to replace a bridge for an abandoned rail line?
