Altapass Vicinity Swinging / Suspension Footbridge
Description
Throughout North Carolina there are over a dozen of these suspension footbridges - usually painted silver and posted with signs reading "Caution Bridge Capacity Limited To Four Persons". Much like VDOT to the north having their ~70 suspension footbridges, I believe these are NCDOT maintained bridges.

I would like to put this swinging bridge on a website of things to do in Mitchell County. I was wondering if you had any information about the history (when & why it was built, etc.) of this bridge? Anything will be helpful! Thank you!
