Another surprise at the end of our abandoned truss bridge tour, located right along the main road through Belmont, MS, right north of town. The bridge leads into cemetery and a couple of small local roads. Another bridge of nearly identical design existed several miles south of this until a couple of years ago, and at least two more still exist on the southern end of this old Illinois Central branch in Hackleburg and Haleyville, AL

Just such a sickeningly absurd and ridiculously stupid waste of funds since there's a level crossing just to the south on the same road. Honestly convinced road departments are actively trying to waste money on completely useless projects to destroy history for ugly modern crap to protect yearly budget or something. Very infuriating.
