Mulberry Park Bridge

A local resident told me what he knew about the bridge. At one time there was an ice house nearby and the place was a popular destination for locals. The through truss bridge washed out in 1993 and was cut up for scrap.

Mulberry Park Bridge

A nice aspect of bridgehunting: I flagged down a truck coming from the dead end where the bridge was located. Randy owned the land nearby and offered to drive me to the location. The road was too muddy for his farm truck so I tried to walk the last few hundred yards but was stopped by heavy rain. Randy took time out of his day to tell me of a couple of other bridges in the area.

Even when the area is public property I've found that stopping to talk with someone local not only sets them at ease about your visit but has always gotten me interesting information.
