For those living in Missouri, love historic bridges like this one and have the time to listen to some music and comedy and would like to donate, there is a fundraiser for the Jenkins Bridge this Saturday. Details here: https://bridgehunterschronicles.wordpress.com/2019/03/22/jen...

We are meeting March 5th at the Jenkins Fire station 1 at 6:30 pm to start an organization to fight for our bridge. We plan to start by getting legislators involved and getting the bridge on the historical registrry.

Update: Bridge is temporarily safe. People are attempting to form a nonprofit group (Jenkins Bridge Preservation--can be found on Facebook) to save the bridge and also get it put on the National Register, otherwise it will likely be demolished and not even replaced. There's no deadline at this point--the county is willing to wait for a nonprofit to get itself put together--but they probably won't wait forever either.

ADT Count of 50 says to me that spending big dollars on a concrete ugly would be a waste. The problems are likely in the flooring system and could be fixed for less. Of course the voices of reason aren't always heard and at the very least they should straighten the road and leave the historic bridge standing. Not sure that there's many examples left from the Standard Bridge Company.

This bridge has been closed for two years. There's a meeting taking place in the next week which will determine its fate.
