This Midway Cut Greenway is a converted railroad cut. The railroad overpass bridges are all listed National Register eligible. This whole scenario is similar to Detroit's Dequindre Cut Greenway, except Detroit in contrast is slowly demolishing all the historic bridges crossing its Greenway. Here, the bridges all appear to remain, at least for now. Photo of the Midway Cut Greenway here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24858199@N00/6128173494/
I hope the City of Minneapolis puts a preservation plan in place for the bridges that remain over this portion of the Greenway. Several of these structures have been replaced with cheap knockoffs over the past couple of years, and more are planned. These bridges make this part of the greenway an enjoyable ride, and it would be a crying shame to lose even half of the total remaining structures, which is about 30 or so.
