John, you make a compelling point about miles per gallon and searching for bridges. I drive a 4x4 pickup and 20mpg is an exiting day indeed.

Now that ( I think ) spring has finally showed its head a little bit, most my trips will start being on two wheels. 45mpg beats 20 any day of the week.

Just have to get my girlfriend to agree to cross Mac on motorcycle. Now THATS the way to enjoy that bridge!!!!

I am planning a trip to Michigan someday John..... But am waiting patiently for Sault Ste. Marie to rebuild and restore the Fort Street Bridge in Ashmun Bay Park. This is the most prolific remaining span manufactured by the New Castle Bridge Company in my hometown of New Castle, Indiana and is a MUST see for me.

Of course this will allow me to also visit "Big Mac", which I haven't seen since I was a kid.

And no trip to Michigan would be complete without hitting the Historic Bridge Park!

Hopefully this will be in the very near future.....and gas won't be $6 a gallon by then!
