Description
"Riveted 6-, 7- and 8-panel double barreled Pratt pony truss with vertical end posts and arched upper chords. The 5th-newest of the 22 known Pratt pony trusses in the MDPW database. The only one of the 22 to utilize the vertical end post, arched upper chord configuration, and the only double-barreled example among the 22. It appears the trusses were badly built at the start, and the trusses were heavily reinforced (by a different bridge company) only a year after the bridge was constructed. Since then, the original deck, stringers, and 5 out of the 6 floorbeams in the northern barrel have been replaced." - S.J. Roper, MDPW Historic Bridge Specialist via Massachusetts Historical Commission Listing
NOTE: This bridge has been replaced, but, thankfully, it was replaced with a truss bridge, a Parker, not a idiotic concrete block.

The northern half of this bridge was replaced in May with a bolted Parker truss; based on an upcoming commuter rail shutdown the southern half will probably be demolished next weekend.
