Description
Built by the R.F. Hawkins Iron Works of Springfield, MA in 1904 as the turntable for the Chester, MA roundhouse. Based on the NBI data for this site, it was relocated here in 1926 to replace a 1910 structure. CSX is in the process of widening the cut beneath the bridge to reduce maintenance issues posed by falling rock and winter icing. As part of this work, this bridge will likely be replaced.
