Knowing Louisiana politics and driven on this bridge several times, since the bridge was commissioned by Gov. Huey Long. It's here to stay and should be landmarked as historical.

The paint / repair is finished and it is open for 4-lane traffic again. 06/2020

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces a project to rehabilitate the US 80 (Texas Street) Bridge over the Red River in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.

The $15.5 million project went to bid in November 2018, with the contract awarded to Intech Contracting, LLC. It will provide a number of structural repairs, including the bridge deck and joints, pedestrian crosswalk repairs, and repairs to other steel components. The bridge will also be sandblasted and painted, which helps prevent corrosion.
