Of the 5 bridges that crossed the Republican river in Republic county at the time -this is the only one to survive the flood of June 1935 intact.

There was another bridge across the Republican river approx. 4 miles south of this bridge. The Sherdahl bridge as it was known-was washed out in June of 1935 by a flood and never rebuilt.
