I am not exactly sure what the previous bridge was, although based on the piers, I would assume the 1898 bridge was virtually identical to this structure, just lighter. The bridge prior to that may have been wooden. I know this line dates to 1887.

I find it interesting that stone piers and abutment almost always date something as pre-20th century. You might want to add that to the bridge description. Any evidence of a timber structure before 1812?

I went ahead and added information from my ATSF bridge records. The stone on this bridge seems to match several others on the line, and my records indicate the piers date to 1898.

I wanted to hit this one in January 2020, but I just ran out of time. Neat bridge!
