Just posted a video on YouTube of my visit to this one about 4 years ago, search "KANSAS OLD BRIDGE HUNT - abandoned Negro Creek bedstead Bridge, Jackson County"
The road shows on the 1982 county highway map but is not on the 1990.
I see that I made an error back in December in my description of this bridge.... it is in fact on Y Road
Thanks Tony and Robert.
Hey Nick... You managed to find 2 Bedsteads that have been abandoned for SOOOOOO long that they still have the legs intact! Most remaining truss leg bridges have either had the legs amputated or buried in concrete!
Great find... All of them!
This is a great find. Thanks for tracking it down. If the bridge is still county-owned, perhaps they might be willing to sell or perhaps donate it to someone who could repair it. This is a great little Bedstead, and there is no reason to let it collapse.
Brutal hike down lumpy, overgrown, abandoned X Rd. to find this one. Very interesting pony - and a great spot, but this one is REALLY falling to pieces. Rarely have thought that it may be BETTER to completely dismantle an old bridge but this one is all but gone.
NBI has not been here since 1990. The latest Google imagery appears to show a pony (Bedstead?) truss here. At least, I think I see a pony truss...
