John... James Cooper had a pretty detailed history on this bridge. The bridge indeed has an interesting history including receiving the attention of Ralph Modjeski for a rehab, an unusual documented involvement of the famous engineer for such a small bridge. https://historicbridges.org/bridges/browser/?bridgebrowser=i...

Curious to see such a heavy truss built so early. Also curious to see an American Bridge Works structure, as generally that company seemed to be mostly building for the Illinois Central, at least from 1898-1900.

Not this bridge but the overpass just to the west over Fall Creek Parkway. That is it's own entry, Monon Trail - Fall Creek Parkway Overpass, bh39071. That entry could use some enlargement because the current bridge was the result of street widening in the 1980's I think. No mention of the old bridge and it's concrete facades.
