Description
On the borders of Jennings, Bartholomew and Jackson Counties. All 3 counties paid part of the original cost to build it, and subsequently to replace it.
Helt's Mill (Originally called Stout's Mill) stood just to the East of the bridge until it collapsed due to high water and ice on Feb 29, 1912.
Wrought Iron Bridge Company (Referred to as the Canton, O., Bridge Works), apparently deviated from the preferred specifications and only received $4,300 instead of the original $4,560 bid.
The location was said to be evenly spaced from the towns of Columbus, North Vernon and Seymour.
