Parker-Cole Crossing

Street View

Description

The newest of the three pedestrian cable-stayed bridges at Indiana-Purdue University's Fort Wayne campus (IPFW), the Parker-Cole Crossing incorporates the most eccentric design of the group, which uses cable-stays attached to a single signature curving pylon to span the full width of Coliseum Boulevard. The weight of the pylon, which leans into the main span, is offset by back stays which attach to large anchorages, presenting an asymmetrical and gravity-defying appearance.
