I believe that to be possible. The 1946 IL State highway map has US50 following this alignment into Sumner. The 1947 map shows the northern alignment under construction bypassing Sumner and the 1948 map shows the route finished and the old route as Alternate US50. It wasn't until a few years later that it was renamed IL 250.

Is this located on an old alignment of US 50?
