Description 

In 1898 the northern approach spans were added, perhaps as the result of a washout; At that time the north concrete abutment and tubular pier were built.

Buchanan County was purchasing its steel trusses almost exclusively from the New Columbus Bridge Company at that time, and it was probably this Columbus, Ohio firm that built the addition.
