Bridge was dedicated as a memorial to Major Archibald Willingham Butt who died on the Titanic.

Local, Determined Eligible, or NR Historic District/Status: One of the early architectonic arch bridges in the state.

Setting/Context: Crosses Augusta Canal and is located in NHL district.

Summary of Significance:Butt Memorial Bridge was determined eligible in 1981. It is a T beam bridge detailed to look like an arch bridge, and it ranks along with Dillingham Street in Columbus as one of the most architectonic early bridges in the state.
