Hartford Bridge (1895)
Description
The Berlin Iron Bridge Company built this temporary wooden structure to replace the covered bridge that was destroyed in a fire on May 17, 1895, completing it on June 8, 1895. An ice jam carried the bridge away on December 23, 1895, necessitating re-establishing ferry service 1895-1896 until the new iron bridge was completed.
