R4 railing
View Exhibit mapThe R4 railing is an attractive and popular Michigan State Highway Department railing that was used commonly in Michigan from 1932 to 1964. Except for a handful of bridges that utilize similar railings in other states, the design appears to be unique to Michigan.
For more information and an excellent overview of this railing type, see: https://historicbridges.org/info/r4/index.php
