Henry Lahiff

Henry Lahiff was born in County Galway, Ireland in 1868. He studied surveying and engineering and immigrated to Arizona at age twenty. In Bisbee he was employed by the Copper Queen Mining Company. From Arizona he went to various cities up and down the Pacific coast andtoIdaho. In1892hewasemployedbytheThompsonBridge Company of San Francisco. He also worked on the construction Southern Pacific Railroad's large wharf at Santa Monica and served as the engineer in charge of the construction of the Sutro Baths in San Francisco. He worked for several large mining companies in the Mother Lode area before becoming the county surveyor and engineer for El Dorado County.
