Dubuque Boat & Boiler Works

The Dubuque Boat & Iron Works was a prolific boat builder between 1851 and 1972. It started out as the Iowa Iron Works in 1851 and was reincorporated as the Dubuque Boat & Boiler Works in 1905. It built, in 1901, the Sprague. The Sprague was the largest stern-wheeler tow boat in the world and set a record for tonnage in 1907.

Little is known about the company's bridge building.
