Description
Plaque on this bridge reads, "1956", but this bridge wasn't completed and opened until October 1957. A national steel strike in the summer of 1956 delayed the shipment of the steel which didn't arrive until July 1957. This bridge replaced a former suspension bridge at this location that was originally built by Yell County, Arkansas and was located just a few feet east of this bridge.
