I spoke to the postmaster at La Grande who remembers what could be described as a two span steel through arch previously at this location. He said it was real narrow so that is why it got replaced. I will look into this more.

I added this to a map and one of everyone's favourite things, a street view. Not sure why this is here but maybe it replaced something or the poster confused with another in area that might be historic?
