History
Built in 1911 after an avalanche in the same spot killed 90 people just west of the old Cascade Tunnel in 1910. Due to the high cost of building it was the only all concrete snowshed built by the Great Northern

The book "The White Cascade" tells the story of the Wellington Disaster, the avalanche which resulted in this snow shed and eventually the new Cascade Tunnel being built.
