Description

This restricted use deck plate girder bridge provides access to the control center for the North Springfield Dam, which is located in a tower disconnected from the mainland. When the dam is empty, this bridge crosses over dry land. However, when the dam is full and/or the spillways are active, there is raging water underneath this bridge. This is one of two similar-designed deck plate girder bridges that are part of North Springfield Dam - the other is a public access road bridge on Maple Street.
