Description

One of two privately-owned pieces of infrastructure in the region - the other is the nearby Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge on U.S. Route 17. Both the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge and the Dominion Boulevard Bridge are owned and managed privately by United Bridge Partners, with no tax revenue or support (their only revenue sources are donations and tolls). Although both structures are of a common modern design (concrete segmental box girder), they are both noteworthy as examples of how private investments can improve public transportation when no public funding for such improvements is available.
