FM 455 was realigned about 1956 and a new bridge built.
Closed bridge is approximately 100 feet in length consisting of one steel pony truss about 70 feet long and short concrete spans about 15 feet long on each approach.
Bridge deck is about 15-16 feet wide concrete overlaid with 1 inch of asphalt. Overall condition is good with a few dings in the steel and concrete railings.

The east end where Hatchel turns off FM 455 is marked private driveway but I've never tried to enter and ask permission.
The west end has a locked gate on the old road grade, which is a couple of hundred yards from the bridge itself.
According to Denton County the old roadway and the bridge are still county property. The gate and private drive sign were likely done by the adjacent property owners.
Just east of where the west end of the old road merges with the present FM 455 is an unfenced field. I just walked across it and through the woods along the creek toward the bridge and found an unlocked gate about 50 yards from the bridge and then walked the rest of the way on the old road.
There has been some recent road repairs or utility construction in the vicinity so the gate may be open now.
Go before deer season and be sure to smile for the game cameras.
Anyway to gain access to this bridge? Want to take a few quick photos of my daughter on it.
Thank you!!
