crazy thought here, is that just a couple months ago a member of the department of transportation asked me for a photo of this bridge to frame for their bosses wall and one for them at home.
Last chance to see this bridge. The deck is already coming off!
Lets try to save this bridge!
I was in the area working and crossed this bridge last week. It is a marvelous old truss. If you want to see it you better go in the next couple of months, because there is a UCEB right next to it,going up fast. It will be another in a long line of trusses destroyed by the state of Tennessee, which is by far the worst state in the union to live in, if you favor historical bridge preservation.
The pictures of this magnificent structure are fantastic!
It is now gone! This bridge was the first memory I had of moving here. I have a picture of it shortly after original construction when it just crossed the river channel (no lake yet). Never got the follow up picture before it was taken down.
