I do not know why it was closed officially. In reviewing my 2014 photos of the bridge it appears that the u-bolt hanger plates were in bad shape, although the section loss was arrested via the most recent painting, if the paint system has started to fail it wouldn't take much more section loss to make those hanger plates a concern. https://historicbridges.org/tennessee/oldstonefortbridge/old...

Nathan,

I've been over that one. Its quite charming although the 'swimming pool' blue takes some getting used to.

What's the issue with it?

Regards,

Art S.

This bridge is closed to all traffic and may eventually be at risk for demolition and replacement! https://www.manchestertimes.com/news/local/old-stone-forts-h...
