Boonville updates
Saturday, July 23, 2005
The outlook for the abandoned Katy Trail bridge at Boonville is still uncertain,
but looking brighter every day:
- The group working to save the bridge, the "Save the Katy Bridge Steering Committee", announced that an alternate method to reopen the bridge could be accomplished for around $1 million, instead of the $3-5 million estimates forwarded by opponents.
- Attorney General Jay Nixon has expanded his lawsuit to include the Union Pacific Railroad, while raising another claim involving the charitable trust used to purchase the Katy Trail assets originally.
- Another group is looking to pursue its own legal challenge to save the bridge.
