About Me

Email: aa5te [dot] kb5ehr [at] gmail [dot] com

My son and I love to hunt out and explore old bridges and train tunnels in AR, TN, GA, and KY. We've been to all of the old CNO&TP Rathole Tunnels in TN and intend to explore the ones in KY, as well as other non-Rathole tunnels.

It looks like it's over the top of a dam...

CNTP Tunnel 21 (Tennessee)
Posted November 13, 2013

Specifically, two "chunks" of the tunnel wall remain, one of which appears to be the south end of the tunnel due to the flat stone blocks that remain.

Ha! In all honesty, I had never seen a bridge with an underpass thru a corrugated drainage pipe like this, and I'm 40 years old. There's a signal light on each side of the underpass to indicate when you can go thru. But I realize that it's sort of the redneck of bridges. I just didn't want it to feel left out.

It won't. I was just initially annoyed that every time I'd look at those, the names were changed yet again with no good reason as to why, even to something that wasn't even applicable. I was labeling them off of the old AR railroad map that I have. I've taken my Prozac, so it's all good!

Is there a way to see all of the bridges that you've added and/or contributed to? The "My Photos" section is useful to see the ones that you've added pics to, but it would be helpful if there existed a section/tool to keep track of what info you've added as well (especially when pics aren't involved). Thanks!

Yeah, it's a pretty neat bridge/tunnel combo.

Posted November 12, 2013

My research shows that it was last used in 1946, but may have been before that.

Thanks! I have no clue how my son found it, but the credit goes to him!
