I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and began my career in the Air Force in 1984. I have spent my stubby pencil engineering years in the energy side of Mechanical Engineering, and have been a manager of such for most of my career, generally in the area of facilities construction and management.
My interest in bridges began in 2009 when I was approached by a forward thinking City Manager to ask whether a bridge could be built in a certain location. I traveled to upstate New Hampshire to see what there to study, and in the Spring of 2009, built my first covered bridge with students from two different charter schools and a group of adult volunteers.
Those volunteers have since built three more wooden bridges in Sparta, WI, each with growing difficulty and charm.
