*Update* The bridge was untouched by the major fire that swept through the area in September 2017. The Eagle Creek Suspension Bridge and the Fern Creek Bridge were not so lucky, they were destroyed.

Richard Doody, your pictures are of Tunnel 2, not Tunnel 3.

Greetings Art,

I was just wondering how things were going with this bridge. My wife and I are planning to be out in SW Pennsylvania this summer on a bridge tour and would love to add this to our list of bridges to see. Thanks.

Regards,

Mike

According to the dedication plaque on the bridge it was built in 1950. L.E. Hough is listed as the City Engineer. The builder was the Roy T. Earley Construction Company of Tacoma, Washington. The name of the bridge is the Heron Street Bridge, not the Wishkah River Bridge. It was designed by the General Engineering Company Inc. from Seattle, Washington.

It appears that this section of rail and bridge currently belongs to the New Hampshire Central Railroad. It also appears abandoned, as you can see from this picture of the rail east of the bridge across Dalton Road.

The name of this bridge is actually The Samuel Morey Memorial Bridge.

Green Bridge (New Hampshire)
Posted October 15, 2015

I just uploaded some pictures of this beautiful bridge that my wife and I took when we visited New Hampshire from Oregon recently. These were taken on the 18th of July, 2015. We didn't know that it was going to be demolished, there were no signs stating this at the bridge. I'm glad we got to see it, it's a shame that this piece of history is now gone forever.

I took some pictures of that other section, and was wondering about that myself. Is it part of the bridge, and should pictures of it be included here?

The bridge is listed here as being built in 1895, but the date plaque has the date 1892. I wonder if it's because, with the bridge being in the open position then the date plaque would be viewed from behind and backwards, hence the 1895 date?
