Evidently they have made an arrests on the arson on this bridge.

I have been tracing old rail lines, came across this one. One thing I have noticed, though there are a lot of "lost" rail road bridges out there. No since to list them all, but if I find a bridge intact, why not post it.

Taking a look at the old Quadrangle map, it shows a rail line going over the bridge. Used to be a power plant there, most likely for the old Kansas Ammunition Plat to the west of there. Also, there is evidence that the line continued into the plant as well.

Even though I added two better street views, this is just a run of the mill UCB voided slab bridge. The only real memory I have is I was on it, when the 442 TFW the KC A-10's left Grandview and moved to Whiteman AFB. It closed sometime in the early 1990's (1993-4) give or take. I used to use this road/ bridge when I was delivering pizza, as a shortcut and having to avoid traffic at 87th St.

Nice photos. The only one I got was part of a train coming out of it 20 some odd years ago.

At one time, I had confused this with the Copeland Tunnel. One of my [many] railroad videos, one of them covering the Pennsey (Pennsylvania Railroad)had a part where they where showing the progress of the railroad, one being bypassing tunnels. I have been "researching" on and off for this tunnel. and I finally found it.

Was playing around with my quad maps, and found this one.

Posted November 27, 2016

I took other locations into account, when I was looking for the location. However, by looking at the Quadrangle maps, Route 32 is in the same spot, where it crosses over the river, which is north of the dam. That is why I determined it to be in this location.

Had a little "fun" with this one. I was looking around on the USGS site, at old Quad Maps. I saw this bridge on one of the maps. I looked it up, and it appears that the sight is haunted with "spook lights".

Went back on my road trip, and visited the bridge again. Much on the trail has changed in the past six months, including now a paved deck on the bridge. On this side was gravel, however on the east side , all the way to Route T, nothing yet (perhaps they poured it from this side). There are also railings (which are stacked on the west side of the bridge) which will soon be going up. A lot has been done, and there is still a lot to be done in the next coming weeks. No idea if and when I will get out again, but I did get a lot of pictures, just as the leaves are beginning to turn (then again, being color blind, I cannot really tell).

I went back out on October 13, to retrace my route that I took. A lot has changed, including now a ramp that brings the trail up to the grade of the road. I was able to talk to a guy who lives near this. A lot of stories, including the confirmation that it was a wooden bridge, and that it was removed in the mid-late 1980's. I would say it was much like this bridge -- https://bridgehunter.com/mo/miller/abbott-road/.

The bridge is being dismantled, moved and reused as a pedestrian Bridge, along the Presidential Trail, In Jackson County. The new two land bridge should be completed in 2017.

Posted September 10, 2016

Bridge is in it's final days. The new bridge is almost complete, with the final deck pour in September. Once the new bridge is "completed", it will open to two lane traffic. The Platte Purchase Bridge then will be removed, and the other lanes completed.

Posted August 19, 2016

The line is now owned by Jackson County. Work is slated to begin next year to convert it into a trail. Here is a Youtube of want they want to do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNv9iphvRoQ. This bridge is at about the 2 minute mark. It continues all the way to 59th Street.
