Thanks for the essay Sherman Cahal. I grew up not far from there and passed it about 100,000 times in my youth.

Piney Creek Bridge (Pennsylvania)
Posted December 29, 2016

George -

There is no tunnel is this section of the township. The land slopes down to Piney Creek which with the trees may give the appearance of a tunnel. However, if you look up closer to the Clarion River (north from this location), you'll see the photos I took of the Clarion Trestle at:

http://bridgehunter.com/pa/clarion/bh73987/

There is a tunnel on the south side of the Clarion River, the trestle over the river, and then another tunnel on the north side of the river. I took pictures of the south tunnel and trestle back in July but never got a chance to check out the northern tunnel. It was a rather notable bridge in its day but I was surprised there was nothing on it, so I created the page. Amazing, a girl fell from the bridge in the 1980s and (surprisingly) lived. It's a party spot for teenagers and college kids. There's a hole in the middle of the span from some idiots building a fire there.

I have other photos of the area on my Flickr album at:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/40617440@N06/albums/7215767070...

which are more than welcome to view.

I walked off Piney Creek Road to the left of photo #1 and down to the creek. The shot you see is part of the old railroad line that runs across the other half of the road and across the creek. I couldn't remember how to get there and was pressed for time. If I get a chance in the next couple of days, I'll take pictures.

The railroad bridge is about 100 yards south of where the old bridge was.
