Description

FROM THE 1996-2001 PENNSYLVANIA HISTORIC BRIDGE SURVEY: The single span, 25'-long stone arch bridge built in 1872 has voussoirs and semi-coursed ashlar spandrel walls. One of the upstream wingwalls has been strengthened with a concrete buttress (ca. 1960) and one of the downstream wingwalls and parapets is collapsing. Stone arch bridges are very common in Pennsylvania with more than 350 pre-1957 examples identified. This short span example has alterations, and there are many more complete and significant examples in the county and region. The bridge is not historically or technologically distinguished by its setting or context.
