It would definitely open some eyes....for those who don't know!
I may have to add a calculator feature to the website to figure out just how ridiculous some of these bridge projects can be.
I can't remember the name of the bridge, but I remember doing this calculation for another Pennsylvania bridge that was even more ridiculous. Assuming the bridge would last 50 years, the cost per crossing would be something like $5!
I was thinking along the same lines only I figured out that a $2.50 toll would pay off the bonds in 30 years - that is assuming that 80 people would be dumb enought to pay a $2.50 toll instead of going around somehow.
I just did some figuring for curiosity's sake. If every time a vehicle crossed the new bridge they paid a dollar.....it would take a little over 65 years to pay for it. Doubt if it will last that long!
I just realized.....I used "cease to amaze" twice in the same day!......OK, now 3 times........
This cracks me up!
Average Daily Traffic count of 80!!....and they build a 1.9 Mil.$$ replacement. The commissioner even said "the old bridge had character, and the new bridge is ugly"
I have a suggestion for a new slogan........
PennDOT.....we never cease to amaze!
this bridge has been demolished recently.

This bridge is on PennDOT's "To be improved" list. In other words, it's doomed.
