Description 

This bridge is once again open for traffic. According to The Oklahoman newspaper, the cost by the city to repair the bridge was $4 million. Funds came from a voter-passed bond issue. The bridge had been closed to traffic since 2008.

The bridge was built in 1924 before Route 66 and was mentioned in John Steinbeck’s novel, “The Grapes of Wrath.”

Bridge is currently being rebuilt. Estimated rebuild cost said to be approximately $5,000,000. After completion, it is supposed to withstand original loadbearing capacity for cars and small trucks; be open to vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians.

I believe last time I drove past the bridge this summer, it had been closed to vehicular traffic. There was talk last year of the city (Bethany?) repainting it as a Rt 66 attraction/preservation.

North Canadian River Bridge

This bridge is no longer on NW 39th Expressway--it has been bypassed. However, it is readily visible next the to road.

This bridge is/was on Historic US 66.
