Noodling.

Written by Gene McCluney

It was at this bridge, while photographing it, that a young observer started chatting with me. When asked what he had been doing all day, he said, "oh I've just been noodling."

Noodling turns out to be a kind of fishing, where you reach into the water in pockets under the water and with your hand pull out a fish.

Deep Fork Union Pacific Railroad Bridge
Posted July 2, 2010, by Nick Jenkins (nick123 [at] valornet [dot] com)

It's a former St. Louis-San Francisco (Frisco) Railroad, former Burlington Northern RR, now Stillwater Central RR bridge. Not Union Pacific RR.
