Does anyone know if this was the bridge in place when the Jefferson Highway went through the area.

This bridge was not demolished in 1931. Although ordered closed as a result of the "Red River War" due to conflicts with the free bridge constructed just upstream in 1931 the 1915 bridge remained in use by local residents who bypassed barriers for a shortened route between Denison TX and southeastern Bryan County OK.

In 1961 a gas pipeline carried below the bridge caught fire destroying the center span. The southern span survived but was salvaged soon after.
